Welcome to AOA Forums, athlonboi!

Are you sure that you want to keep all of that frightening speed? A half of a Gigasmertz would really add some pizazz to my box!

Perfect, Invalid! Thanks for lending us a hand. You won't regret it! We have a small but dedicated team. When you sign up with us, you can use the Folding Badge in your signature... you can read about that and a lot more in the folding section.

What I do is I fold when I'm surfing the net and when I'm NOT gaming. You could always turn it OFF when you feel that it's slowing down your PC.

As you can see here: Folding and 3D performance I only lost 64 3Dmarks having folding@home running. The thing is, it only uses the free clock cycles so it won't interfere with other programs. IF you feel it does, you can just shut it down and start it up again later... fx when playing a 3D game or something.

Nah!!! I dont think you're gona kill your chip if you are folding with a CPU thats in DEFAULT clockspeed and DEFAULT voltage. I believe it will still last 10 yrs if you fold everyday.

There are plenty of ways to kill your processor but folding is not one I have heard of. Too much volts and bad cooling are another matter

If you break it down logically gaming, burning cd's, video editing etc will all result in 100% cpu utilisation for extended lengths of time. The cpu could die in any of those situations but nobody suggests you should stop playing games.

Give it a go and see what you think. If you dont feel its for you then its easy to stop
