Question Suitable ram please?

Hiya all

OK I wish to know which ram is the best to use in the 2 following setups please (and yes at some point I would be doing a little OC )

1) Epox 8RDA+ with AMD 2700+ CPU

2) Asus A7N8X with AMD 2700+ CPU

Both of these would be using 2 x 256 meg sticks to take advantage of the 128 bit mode

Corsair is really decent stuff, but a lot of people on different forums seem to all say they have issues with it in BOTH of the about MoBo, and the Asus MoBo is only rated to PC3200 I think, whilst the Epox is rated at PC3500

Any suggestions?? Both on MoBo and Ram please

Thanks !!

Not Cors_hair!

After fartin round with cors_hair xms3200 for over 5 months...I have never had satisfactory results...on a good day...I can run it at 10-11.5/206-211...on air...no mods...max voltages...unless Ur plannin on extreme cooling and modded voltage...I would suggest that U stay away from cors_hair...IMHO...it's over priced & over valued...cha cha cha...

Personally im running Twinmos/winbond 3200 from www.komplett.co.uk

Currently 100% stable at 225fsb on my 8RDA+ (with VDD mod to 1.85v and Vddr at 2.9v)

Very good memory for under £50 delivered to the UK.

You dont get the guarantees you do with corsair but ive not seen many dissapointed people running twinmos/winbond so far.

Just make sure you buy the winbond stuff not the oprdinary twinmos 3200.

A recent post says that Micron PC-2700(Is there a difference between Crucial and Micron?) didn't work right on an Asus A7V266. This is bad news, because Micron--or Crucial at any rate is happy on most motherboards.

AFAIK, Samsung PC-2700(personally, I insist upon Samsung chips on a Samsung board. This RAM used to have "SEC," instead of "Samsung" printed on the memory chips) is accepted by nearly all mainboards.

As to a choice between the A7N8X(I'd get the "econo" version, but you may need the RAID and IEEE 1394 capabilities of the "Deluxe" model) and the EPoX 8RDA+?
Personally, I think I'd go for the Asus.

Micron may be Micron chips on a 3rd party PCB.

Crucial are a devition of Micron... so they will generally use micron chips on there own PCB. Sometimes they will use other major manufacturers chips if they dont have any (some of there PC-2700 memory used samsung chips on a micron/crucial PCB)

Thanks, Holst. Micron seems to cost a tad more than Crucial. Yet "Micron" is on thirds? Rarely have I been so insulted.

It may not be, it may be on a micron PCB... you would need to read the lable to know for sure.

One sure way of getting the Micron-on-Micron is to specify it.

IOW, if web-ordering, make sure you put the following in the extra notes section:

Micron-on-Micron ONLY

Tell the sales rep the same thing if ordering by phone.

It may delay your order a bit, though rarely have I had this happen.

I use Crucial (Micron) in all the boxes I build for the rock solid stability. The businesses that purchse from me don't OC and I prefer that they do not.

Hope this helps.

Denny
