That's odd. Hard to figure what was going on. Glad it's working now.

Cool

i have done my first overclocking!
before changing cpu with locked xp1700+pal. last night.

152fsb x11=1673Mhz,

installed barton today, had a play with fsb, mem either auto or 100%, turbo/ aggressive. voltages default (1.65 vcore, 2.74 dimm)

stock 1837.50 (167.05 x 11)

1675.22 ( 186.14 x 9)
1747.71 ( 194.19 x 9)
1703.86 ( 200.45 x 8.5)
1921.03 (167.05 x 11.5)

did not like going over 200 fsb, had to manual reset cmos. trying to ease myself and cpu into it!

cooler is coolermaster hlk61 heatpipe runs up to about 60 degC.
Pal was ~68 degC

Couple of setbacks #1. had to 'beat up' the heatpipe so it would fit, one pipe v close to a big capacitor and the retaining clip would not fit inside case as i have support for psu directly above socket needed some bending!
#2. board would not post after installing cpu and i thought i had ruined it! first was beeping wildly and saying mem problem then just ff and nothing else.
i desperately re-set bios, re-seated memory and re-seated cpu. and it worked
i was quite releived!

i have returned it to stock setting and will let it do some folding and hopefully settle itself in.

thanks
phil

Yes, I have heard stories about the closeness of capacitors that hinder the installation of some coolers. I have a Danger Den Maze 3 and it fits with room to spare.

Glad you are up and running.
