As far as the chips concerned, I personally don't know. However, u ought to find a post (here or at other OC sites) that compile the different steppings of ur chip...that will tell it's potential. Everything else sounds great, but the ram prolly needs to be better quality. Not sure if that helps...good luck &Welcome to AOA!

Better get a 2100+ TBred B because they OC like hell, and with the extra money go for some DDR333(PC2700) or DDR400(PC3200) RAM, DDR266(PC2100) is old and will limmit your FSB to 133MHz, so you won't be able to do much OCing.

i would just sell it for whatever you can get, if you can make a profit than go for it, but even if you just get a 2100+ for free that can oc better than your 2400+ could than you made out better

Is a 2100 tbred B better than a 2600+ with 333FSB? That's what I got, and I'd like to know how fast I can set it. I also have an A7N8X Deluxe, 1GB Samsung DDR-333 (PC2700), All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro, WD800JB HDD. I'm running the latest BIOS for my mboard. As for cooling, I have 4 case fans (2 in, 2 out), the default amd CPU cooler (using arctic silver) and standard cooler for the vid card.
I have already set the RAM timings a little highr than the "agressive" settings in the BIOS, that is 6-3-3-2.5T. Should I tweek the FSB or the clock multiplier? And by how much? Will I need a better CPU cooler?

phat pigeon, set your fsb to 166 mem to sync or 100% whatever, i guess keep those timings and possibly leave your mult at 13, you def. need to get a better heatsink if you do that though, the retail ones are crap. you might also need to up voltage some to get 13*166. 13*166 =xp 2700+ speeds for 2100+ price

saffyre, could you remove the image from your sig please? its a forum rule that only FAH team members can display a graphic in their sig (the FAH team banner) this is to protect lowly 56kers from spending their whole day waiting for everyones sig images to load.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I already bought the 2600+, and have been using it for weeks. I wish I had researched overclocking before I spent all that money, because it's too late now. Oh well, at least I can get this performance without worrying about the potential dangers of OCing, or perhaps I can get even better performance with this chip. I don't know if my memory is up to an increase though....

My Memory aint seeming to fond of increasing it up to the turbo mode, but I just made a few fiddly changes and got it running fairly nicely in normal mode.

Same here Phatpigeon, I bought a 2200+ In some cases I wish I had'nt have because i've just found out that they can be OC'd higher than what a 2200+ can for some reason. I'd love to drop down to a 2100+ to it but I can already get 2036 outta my current one, so I'd be wasting time to drop down so i could faster by100mhz.

I was almost tempted to be a 2600+ too, good job i didnt have enough money for one or I would have. I'm still competemplating what to put in my next machine (when i can be bothered to start saving for it).
