Talking successful VDD Mod!!

Hi guys,
I finally pluced up the courage to get into my Epox 8RDA+ (only 3 days old...) with a soldering iron after my micro grabbers turned out to be too big...
I darent turn my VDD Voltage up any higher than about 1.80v cus i only have the stock HS with fan on it...and nothing on the SB as of yet. I will be able to nock it up a bit higher when i get my watercooling on the NB...
well here is a pic...i will post one tomorrow when i get my digi cam of my solder job, i would recommend for everyone who has the bored to do this mod...its simple and not as hard as it looks
im gonna see if it improved my FSB tonight when i can be bothered...

oh,..

good. You have done the vdd mod and you also have volt modded your GF3 ti200. Why don't you give me some competition. I'm too bored. I need somebody challenge me. My card isn't modded... but supercooled. Let's see what 3Dmark you could get.

I have an old TbredXP 2700+ AIUCB. The everday clock setting is 2450mhz. But the 3Dmark I have run was done at lower system clockspeed of 2380mhz but at high FSBs for testing. FSB@ 217mhz DC on an Abit NF7.

The GF3 Ti200 is being supercooled. Peltier + warm water. I'll be pushing back to near freezing water later.

I will be going back to around 2.45~ 2.5ghz later..

At the time when I ran my gf3ti200 to get that score was at in the range of 283~ 288mhz core. 570mhz memory.

With the freezing water it will do 290~ 295mhz core on the 3dmark. At the time I didn't have the setup ready for freezing water... argg...

you attach a 1k variable resistor to the VDD Chip and it lets you regulate the boltage so you can increase it to say 1.85 and it will allow you to achive a higher FSB, do a google search for "Epox 8RDA+ VDD Mod" and you should find something...
sprry about the pics guys, my camera is soooo crap they came out all blurry and you cant really make it out

yea i like the OCZ, ive been hearing stories of it not being very compatible with the Epox 8RDA+ but it seems to be working fine with me...ill find you a review when i get back from school that shows u how it completely wiped the floor with corsair...BTW i got stable @200MHz FSB last night///the new BIOS seems to have done the trick some how :-S

Well, I haven't posted recently. Just got a AIUCB XP2000+ and decided to VDD mod to get over 190FSB. Got it to 2130 10.5x203 at 1.8V Vcore and ~1.79VDD. I haven't done an overnight Prime95, but seems to do all right for 20 minutes of Prime95 and hours of NWN. I tried 10x213 but couldn't pass Prime95. Oh and replaced the PCM on the northbridge heatsink with thermal grease, the heatsink is actually pretty hot to the touch now.

Yes, I know AIUCB is not great, but for $25 I got a 300Mhz boost from my Tbred-A 1800+. And, got over 13000 3DMarks.

Also, I tried a little different tactic for attaching the 1K variable resistor. Instead of solder or micro clip, I used 30gauge wire wrap wire. I was able to thread the wire behind the legs of the IC, and twist it up around the legs. It was pretty tricky to push it through, because it was so thin, and the space behind the leg is barely big enough for the wire to fit through. This might be something for people to try who don't want to risk soldering, and want something a little more reliable than clips.

Don
