*BUYING TOMORROW* Please Vote!

Some money is burning a hole in my pocket so i'm going to do some upgrading tomorrow . Here are current specs...

XP2100+ 210X11 0302 (GOES TO ABOUT 2.35 STABLE 24/7)
EPOX 8RDA+ 1.1 VDD MODDED ALL MAJOR CHIPS PASSIVE COOLED 1.8VDD
2X256 OCZ 3500EL DC 2,2,2,4 SYNC
MSI GEFORCE 4 4400TI 320/650 TT FAN AND RAMSINKS
MAXTOR ATA133 40GB FBD
VIEWSONIC P95F+B 19" BLACK
LITE-ON 16X DVD BLACK/LITE-ON 48XCDRW BLACK
ALIENWARE KB AND MOUSE BLACK

I know my system looks pretty good now, but I need a mobo, ram, and video card and I got a pretty good second system. So I figure why not just get better stuff for my main rig . This is what I eventually want this system to look like...

2800+ or 3000+ BARTON
ABIT NF7-S 2.0
9800 PRO
2X256 TWINMOS 3200 W/NEW MEMORY CHIPS
2x36gb WD sata raptor's raid 0
LIAN-LI PC75
DANGERDEN/SWIFTECH WATER COOLER

In the system above I will of course use all the best parts I have. So in all i'm planning on spending about $600-700 cdn.

Now to the vote, I'm going to buy a cpu of some kind tomorrow and can't decide which. I don't mind buying something to use and then sell down the road, as long as it's something that I can get my money back on. I eventually will be upgrading to the 2800 or 3000 so it is more then just price for performance. I'm including the 2500+ in the vote but it is my least favorite because I would rather take a cheaper step now, since i'm upgrading to a barton anyway. I will include prices in Canadian dollars and special situations I can get with them.

here are prices for the other stuff i'm going to get...

ABIT MOBO- $177CDN
9800 PRO- $580-$625CDN (GOING TO TRY AND GET ONE OFF EBAY)
TWINMOS 3200 256- $185CDN 2 STICKS SHIPPED
WD RAPTOR SATA- $235 EA.

I plan on buying the case and water cooler last so that's what I have to chose from. I would rather wait for about 2-3 weeks to get the 9800 pro since that's when I get my taxes back, and the card will be more mainstream and maybe a little price drop/

Thinking of these sets, and all are pretty much the same price. I will be completing this upgrade minus case/watercooler in 3 weeks, so all will eventually be bought...

1) 1700+/NF7-S/9500 np/4 PORT ROUTER/TT SMARTFAN 2 FOR MY SLK-800 $595.71 CDN SHIPPED BEFORE PRICE OF ROUTER

2) 1700+/NF7-S/2X256 TWINMOS/TT SMARTFAN 2 *$524.19 CDN SHIPPED*

3) 2800+/NF7-S *$550 CDN SHIPPED*

4) 9700 PRO/NF7-S *$687 CDN SHIPPED*

5) 9800 PRO/1700+ *$702 CDN SHIPPED*

6) 1700+/NF7-S/WD 36 RAPTOR/SMARTFAN 2 *$612 CDN SHIPPED*

7) NF7-S/2 WD 36GB RAPTOR *$739 CDN SHIPPED*

8) 2500+/NF7-S/ROUTER/9500 NP OR TWINMOS RAM *$678.87/$608.91 CDN BOTH SHIPPED AND BEFORE ROUTER*

I also forgot to mention that with me getting a mobo, ram, vid card, and router will enable me to get a second system going.

If I had money for a new CPU I would go for a Barton 2500+ I think.

I'd say keep the mobo and get the Barton2500+ and video card. If you really want to upgrade to a faster Barton later on, then just get the 1700+ Tbred for cheap, and buy a good video card and some more RAM.

hmmm....not exactly sure what you mean. I'm a little slow right now since it's 4 am here. Like I said though nothing will go to waste since it will just upgrade both systems, and my gf could use a new vid card too cause her 8mb on-board vid sucks big time. The parts I don't need I can sell for close to what I paid for here locally, after I test it for performance and decide if I want to keep it of course .

You said all you need for the second rig is MoBo Ram and video card?

Does that mean that you already have a second CPU and just want a Barton? Or are you going to have to buy a new CPU anyway and figure it may as well be a Barton?

Myself, I am cheap. I never buy anything new until I have to, Then I get the best value I can get without sacrficing performance.

So if you really want the Barton, don't settle for less than the 2800+

If you are willing to wait until a later day the I would sugest combo #4 The 9700PRO and the NF7-S ver 2.0

Ouch...that smartz!

No, I approach each customer I have in the same way,: It's your money. I'm just here to spend it for you and ask that there be no repercussions. Don't come back a month or so later lamenting you didn't go first cabin cause you wanted to spend $100 less when you feel $500 worse now!

hey man take it easy...I do know what i'm doing, and just because i'm eager doesn't mean i'm acting with my head cut off. I work really hard and look forward to treating myself like this . What I have for the second comp is this...

1600+ agioa "9" max is about 1850
SB Audigy OEM
6x dvd (don't laugh)
4x cdrw (don't laugh harder)
Maxtor 9gb 7200rpm
Enermax 350w
case with 1 top blowhole, and 2 side ones
17" Dell Trinitron

I will also pass down the stuff I don't use on the main rig so there will be an nforce2 board, ge4 4400, new cpu, etc...and what I don't use can go towards either my gf's system, or I will sell.

I just can't make up my mind if I wanna gamble on the 9500 soft-mod, and the 1700+. I think i'm going to skip the 9700 and get the 9800 unless I can get a good card (hercules, gigabyte) at a good price.

I would say the 1700+ DLT3C, they OC great and have excellent value. However, it's kinda expensive at 80$, I got mine for like 58$.
