| Best of luck! let us know how she behaves!

| I almost bought this board just to see if it lived up to all the hype. I hope it does. If it does I think this will be the buget overclockers board of choice. If I remember right the lack of the through the motherboard heatsink mounting hole was what stered me away from this board. Can't wait to see what it does.

| Is this the SL-75FRN2-L or the -RL? The only Soltek board that looked like this one was on newegg and ended with RL? http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....180-039-05.JPG Kinda funky on the colors but doesn't look too shabby for the price =). *edit* Just went to the Soltek site.. I guess newegg doesn't sell the L model.. wonder what the difference is between the 2... Also noticed they have the 75MRN-L and 75FRN-RL boards as well.. Are there any major differences between SPP + MCP2 and SPP + MCP chipsets? Last edited by Nate-X : 10th May, 2003 at 01:23 PM. |

| The 75MRN is the nForce2 onboard graphics, and I beleive the "RL" designates RAID. Here's my new CPU at 2345MHz @ 1.7Vcore (13x180) and only 27C, wait till it gets cooler tonite. This Soltek is sick, beast board I've seen packaged at any price. let alone $87. And I rarely get excited about mobo's. Eeven has C1 stepping, and VDD to 1.8V. |

| Any pics of your setup there Liquid3D? These Xp1700's are something else, 2.3Ghz right out of the box! Looks like you bought the right one ![]() |

| I tried to take a pic of my rig but this camera is the worst. |

| Ooooh. Only $89 on newegg. I want to buy it, but I must resist the temptation, until I have gainful employment. update: I think I'm going to have to order it. Does anyone know how the RAID works on the RL model? And here is a URL to more pictures I found: http://www.forumdeluxx.de/gallery/sh...=523&password=

| Liquid3D, are those temperature readings accurate? What else you got in there cooling that baby down? ![]() |
| ||||
| I know! No one ever believes me, but since buying the SLK800, and the 84CFM Vantec, it cools better then some H20 rigs. And I swear, that's a high temp. I keep the window where the PC is located open constantly (even in Winter), and I haven't had the window side on my case/s in two years. Basically it's keeping the system wide open, and uncluttered. Of course I'm loosing my mind, from the noise of this dam fan! Of course I love the cold, but in the winter, I wear ski-silk and a sweater. I m pretend I'm back in Breckinridge CO. |

| According to this guide; http://lowyat.isentral.com/guides/athlonxp/ "WPMW, SP1W, XPMW, XPCW, MPMW have no special meaning to the end-user, but according to the AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred B Datasheet, the Third alphabet out of these 4 alphabets represents the number of production run/batch on a particular production date. For example, A represents the first batch of product on that week, B is the second batch, C is the third batch and so on...It therefore can be said the first few batches have the best quality and purity, made from the purest wafer and finest assembling....Other than A, B, and C, M represents the combined lots from many batches which cannot pass the Quality test (QC) for labeling as higher model like 2700+ but still can be marked as 2400+ for example...Other than M, they are many alphabet out there eg. R, I, S, and even digits like 1 to 9. Codes with digits are deemed to be one of the poorest quality wafer, like SP1W. They have been combined and re-combined again after abandoning the poorer one from other batches. They are not finished at one go, instead they are finished after several runs of producing, which means they may fail the QC and passed to re-labelling line..." What the author fails to mention, or go into more detail, is the potential of "M" batches, i.e. XPMW or like mine with just three letters at the end of the 3rd code line MPM. These combined batches given the current situation (AMD filling lower speed orders with original high speed processors) benefit's us tremendously. So when you see an M it most likely a remarked higher speed CPU re-binned, and re-marked for lower speed inventory.

| I have a hard time with this statement ... "...Codes with digits are deemed to be one of the poorest quality wafer, like SP1W. They have been combined and re-combined again after abandoning the poorer one from other batches. They are not finished at one go, instead they are finished after several runs of producing, which means they may fail the QC and passed to re-labelling line..." Given this from my XP2100+ AIUHB 0302 TP2W http://users.tpg.com.au/spark69/r404/prime2909.jpg and this http://users.tpg.com.au/spark69/r404/wcpuid3069.jpg Ive truly given up trying to interpret batch codes ... the variance is just too high. I bought 4 chips from the same above batch, the slowest topped out at 2183MHz on air, the fastest (shown above) cruised at 2409 MHz @ 1.85V on air.

| Well you definately presented some emprircal data which challanges that "guide". Beleive me I hear YA. Although one thing I did find which does seem to verify the 8th & 9th digit theory (that they indicate the processors original designation) is this Barton code below. The 8th & 9th digits read "25"? And in sofar as that 3rd alphabetic or numeral, this Barton indicates "A", and thios Barton happened to attain 2200MHz at stock voltage. Albeit a mediocre overclock, the author didn't even try pushing it due to inadequate cooling. And when I have a poor stepping, as in the case of my AIUCB 2400, even a 200MHz overclock requires a small vcore increase?

| Oh well guys i think the good stepping for the xp1700s are all about gone? I just went up to a place by me and picked up a Xp1700 chip in hope of finding a 0310 DLT3C and under but all they had where the 0312 DUL3C's.. I even had the guy bring out four of them and they were all the same except for the last four digits that tell you the production of the chip.. I decides to take a chance cause ive seen people getting high ocs out of the DUT3C's before.. i just would of felt alot better having gotten a DLT3C 0310 and down but oh well gues for 54 bucks aslong as it does 2200 mhz i got my moneys wirth?? Ok well here is the stepping for all you guys who like to collecct the steppings AXDA1700 9468857272530 JIUHB 0312 WPMW the vore is a nice silverish blue just like you want it to be so thats about the only good thing about it so time to see if i can beat all the odds when it comes to the steppings and what they mean?.. Im going to install it and tinker around with it so ill be back to post my results.. im going to say this chip well be lucky to see 2300 mhz and if it goes higher i well brick myself!!!?? later guys perc.
