Bus disconnect = bad

im not sure if anyone has posted on this in the past but here i go

i noticed around the time of fitting my barton cpu to my nf7-s 2.0

that my sandra ram benchmarks droped to around 2890 from 3060 odd

anyway to cut a long story short

bus disconnect enabled in the bios lowers ram bandwidth by quite alot but doesnt seem to lower the cpu temp

ive disabled it in my bios now and its back to 3060

Bus disconnects increase latency between the CPU and the northbridge in certain situations. When the bus is disconnected, it takes a number of clock cycles to reconnect the bus. During this time period the processor is effective stalled.

i know i allways used to force it on with patched bios's with my old via setup and palamino's

it braught cpu temp down loads and didnt affect sandra mem scores

i dont like the way barton does it

Alas, I've always found it to lock my machine up... I've no idea why though. The problem with bus disconnect is that it only really helps when the processor is idling. When you put it back under full load, just when you need the help with temperatures, it doesn't help!

yup you need a super stable pc with a beast psu
to get bus disconnect stable on kt266a's kt333's

because of the fluctuactions in voltage

1 second 10amps next 75amps

i never had any stability problems but alot of people did with it enabled

Had problems even on a KT133... It'd lock the PC up instantly.
