| Yes, we have no bananas; we have no bananas today. But won't somebody think of the children?! We are thinking of the children, why else would we go through the travails of 'tis the season to me jolly? "Me?" Always thinking of yourself, right cloasters? Keep yakking, see if you receive a spendiferous AOA case badge for Christmas. You talking to me? You talking to me? Oy, that's an oold one!

| If you live far from city lights it's the last night of the Geminid meteor shower, IIRC. Mars is almost as bright as it's going to get for sixteen years, have a look for it. It's often cloudy in my neighborhood, sometimes a planetarium program has to fill in. The real deal is better!

| Crimson and Clover, what a great tune. Taste in music is often defined by your age, it's possible that I don't appreciate a great Hip-Hop song. "Song" may be pushing it a bit.

| Whoa! I just bought "Songbird"! "I am lost unto this world" gets played several times a day...":O} "Wreaking ball" is one of my favorite albums ever!

| And If I may say so, few age and mature so gracefully in their arts.

| She does a KILLER version of this in Wreking ball (Bob Dylan) In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed There's a dyin' voice within me reaching out somewhere, Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair. Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake, Like Cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break. In the fury of the moment I can see the Master's hand In every leaf that trembles and, in every grain of sand. Oh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear, Like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer. The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way To ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay. I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame And every time I pass that way I always hear my name. Then onward in my journey I come to understand That every hair is numbered like every grain of sand. I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night In the violence of a summer's dream, in the chill of a wintry light, In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space, In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face. I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea Sometimes I turn, there's someone there, other times it's only me. I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand

| Wow, that one is so true! She did a memoire album about losing Graham Parsons, sorry I can't remember its title. Holy crap, get out those hankies in advance, you'll need them.

| My guess is that she's released at least 30 LP's over the last ~30 years. I hope that you have the best of the best, maybe I'll spring for the compilation too. She did one or maybe two records(that dates me) with Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton. The first one, "Trio" is a disappointment, avoid it. The ultra fence kicker, or crying in your beer LP is The Ballad of Sally Rose. Waterworks assured. That's selling the LP short, it's better than just that. I had the casette, but it evaporated over time. I saw her in San Francisco with The Hot Band. My date's shoulder was touching the center of the stage, I'll never be that close again. She's amazing. Also saw her at the St Michelle winery again with The Hot Band, from a hundred yards. And at Bumbershoot about a dozen years ago. She's one of those performers who's above and beyond human, you pretty much sit there, mouth agape in wonder. Rhino(who'd a thunk that they'd have anything to do with Emmylou) is selling "Songbird" for $59. There are many tracks on it that I've never heard, maybe I'll spring for it after the holiday. Merry Christmas to you and P ~!!

| I was a little leary of SongBird, so many throw away albums made with throw away tracks...and there are some weakness in my view...but Don't fear the Songbird! ":O} But oddly, the most effecting thing I've her her do is Jimmy Hendrix's "May this be love" (Waterfall).On Wreaking Ball... It drones on like a mantra and silences me, a rare and good thing.":O} You HAVE to have Wreaking Ball!! Not altogether what one would expect. But It's her masterpiece, I think. I'd take Wrecking Ball over Songbird, truth be told.":O}

| She did a few songs with Ricky Skaggs many years ago that almost define supreme Christian folk music. Not enough to "convert" me, but very close! I haven't heard Wrecking Ball truth be told. I was a big fan for years after I heard Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town at a 'Nam friend's in Oklahoma many years ago, but lost touch over time. I bumped into a few Youtube vids of her recently and my ardor was rekindled, she's really something!!

| Interesting little drama played out in her duets with Mark Knopfler that I saw on the tube. He seemed to be saying(in subtext) "Emmylou, I love you," as anyone would, let's be honest. But her reply was "WTF, this guy is on the wrong track." She's still saving herself for me, yaay! LOL LOL!

| I'm actually a more recent fan... Don't even remember buying Wrecking Ball, had it at lest several years before I stumbled upon it in my collection... very unusual for me to buy something I'm not familiar with... Then I listened to it about 8 months ago, and every other day since! ":O}

| I've never heard a song quite like this one it's on "Stumble into Grace" As I get older...Music haunts as mush as teaches or entertains.... (Emmylou HarrisDanniel Lanois) I was once some mother's darlin' Some daddy's little girl More precious than the ruby More cherished than the pearl My heart was full of mercy And my forehead full of curl Now I am nothing and am lost unto this world I am lost unto this world... They herded me like cattle Cut me down like corn Took me from my babies Before they could be born You can blame it on the famine You can blame it on the war You can blame it on the devil It don't matter anymore I am lost unto this world... I was tortured in the desert I was raped out on the piain I was murdered by the high way And my cries went up in vain My blood is on the mountain My blood is on the sand My blood runs in the river That now washes thru their hands I am lost unto this world... Can I get no witness this unholy tale to teil Was God the only one there watching And weeping as l feil O you among the living Will you remember me at all Will you write my name out With a single finger scrawl Across a broken window In some long forgotten wall That goes stretching out forever Where the tears of heaven fall I am lost unto this world...
