So my bank died on Thursday and became JP Morgan Chase on Friday. Do I like that East Coast accent and attitude? Last Tuesday, I opened new accounts and am approved for a CC at a small credit union. Dunno if I should make the switch. Signed, Shanghaid former WaMu customer.

Guess I'll put some cash into the CU. Dunno if Chase will mess everything up.

As far as I can tell. (cuz I'm apart of one) CU's are good things. I'm thinking about expanding one account I have with them and opening another.

And on a side note, I JUST FOUND all my AOA badges. So I can send out what I have as well. Along with some cool AMD stickers and hell.. . maybe a nice and shiny AOA logo!!!

The diff between a large bank and a small credit union is noticeable. I don't know if JP Morgan Chase is going to bring big change to Washington Mutual, but it seems a fairly safe bet. I put a few hundred into the CU this AM, but am still undecided whether to say bye bye to the former WaMu. Your AOA case badges will become rare collector's items in a few hundred years, so hang on to them. Your great great Grandchildren will thank you!

Again, the buggers on Capitol Hill prove that they have no regard for the wishes of the people. "Daffy Duck" on the ballot--or is Scrooge McDuck more appropriate?

With all the money we are kicking out (we the tax payer) I wonder if CD's will be the way to go. I'm sure the rates on them will go up. Hmmm I might have to look into one or two.

George, what did you get on yours? and how long?

'Fraid I don't have any CD's, tbh. Personally, I recommend gold and especially silver. The metals, not paper shares or ETF's. Both are difficult to find recently! PM me if you'd like a suggestion of where you can find silver, at least.

Fed's prime rate dropped to 1.5% today. The Federal Reserve is bankrupt, according to some who know better than me. So the Treasury's printing presses are in overdrive. Soon enough, the Plunge Protection Team will be out of tricks. Maybe. Think of the fancy footwork needed to keep the dollar at 81!

The sainted Market drops like a rock, so do oil, gold and silver. The dollar remains strong. We've moved out of Kansas?

Well... I've lived a full life. Set me on fire and float me down the Ganges! No, this isn't my last will and testabent! Nightmare scenarios flit across the mind, with luck they won't all come to pass.

Remember the silver bars I post a couple years ago that I have. I checked the price like a year ago. I would have double my money.
Very nice investment if I do say so myself.

Silver cost ~$19 per ounce eight or so months ago. $9.35 yesterday. Had I the money and could find some for sale somewhereI'd be buying 100 ounce bars by the hand, uh, dolly full. It's a weird situation, it's very, very cheap yet finding it is difficult. The US Mint is stamping out Silver Eagles at a slow rate and takes vacations along the way. You can buy them at today's price, plus the retailer's rather hefty cut for future delivery. Personally, I like to feel the weight of the metal at the time I buy it. 100 or 1000 Troy ounce (~70 pound) bars are bought at a much smaller premium than Canadian Silver Maple Leafs or US Silver Eagles. At least Canada is pumping them out. Go Canada!

Canada has no shortage of Lefty layabouts. Especially those with an American accent. Oh, the rejection!

Has your Web experienced random slow downs and sludge spots over the last two days? Mine has.

Hoo boy, our money situation, uh, lack of money sitch may become ugly. Hang on to that job, even if you don't like it. Layoffs by the tens of thousands are coming. Better news at eleven. I wish.

I always DL free screensavers and custom "smilies" from the Web. Not a hint of spyware in a dozen of them. Correction, spyware is virtually guaranteed with all of these "freebies." Leave them alone! Just in case you don't already know about these hazards.

There was a time when freeware was abundant and it held no nasty surprises. Musta been... how many decades ago?
