A7V333 bios updates

MY motherboard came with the 1011 bios.

With any combination of settings an upgrade of bios would cause windows not to boot - i managed to fix this by going into safe mode and deleting the IDE drivers. This would reload the drivers and boot up ok.

But then once that was fixed, no matter what i'm doing: installing windows, running windows, running dos, ANY BIOS apart from 1011 will crash withing a few minutes. Regardless of overclock etc.

Any ideas?

This isn't urgent I just know that if I want to upgrade to a barton which I may well do this year, I'll probably need to upgrade the bios.
We never should have stuck our heads out of the grass in Africa.
