p4 vs amd????????????????????????

Can some one explain to me why the p4 is better rated in audieo video an memory bandwith then the amd. Can some one explan to me how an what the amd has over the p4 besides overclocking megga flops an price.I no im asking alot! Some one gave me a new asus p4c800 delux im thinking of getting a 2.4 800 fsb chip. I just wanna no what p4 has over amd if any thing an will it be a wast of money to get the 2.8. Will i be any better off,Im still very happy with my set up just wanna no what you guys think. THANKS MENTAL[][]][][][][[][]][]

A 2.4C will have Hyperthreading and so will excel in anything multithreaded and will multitask better than your XP. The P4s for some reason kick ass at Video Editing and Audio encoding, also the bandwith is much higher due to the advanced chipsets.

Other than that you probably won't see much of a difference.

I would definately get the 2.4C over the 2.8, it overclocks to around the same range and the higher fsb at the same speed gives higher performance (remember Intel's multiplier is locked).

I would do it seeing as you got a 100$ motherboard free.

Wow, youre right, 178$ at newegg. I didn't know P4 mobos were that expensive. So yeah, I think a 2.4C is worth it.

This is mainly down to badly optimised software, like the majority of the software on the market today. Hyperthreading works by keeping bits of the processor busy that would otherwise be idling because the program couldn't keep them working. With HT enabled, well optimised programs actually run slightly slower, due to the extra overhead of HT. Fortunately for Intel, there's very few well optimised programs.
