Hey Doc, I mean doogie_howser Very nice OC. It's nice to know that you got Barton 2500+ stable. I know a couple of people here that have lots of trouble getting their 2500+'s to work properly in this board. I'll send them your config maybe they can finally run it stable.

I have to say and I know you would agree with me that Veky's setup still smokes. For you guys who prefer to OC, Veky's setup is worth taking a look. Hmmm... I feel an itch to OC. Naaaah, I still like it to run stock. Hmmm...

BTW to all who are considering getting the FX5200 cards, I strongly suggest getting the FX5600 or RADEON 9500 or higher if it still falls in your budget. I tested a GF4 MX440 last time instead of my V9520 and it's much smoother. I know it's weird but I'm not giving up on it (maybe I can OC it ).

To all who got their 8RDA3+ 's to work stable and still haven't posted their System Config and Benchmarks, PLEASE post 'coz it'll really be a great help.

AthlonXP 2400+ @ 2.26 /w vcore@ 1.7 cooled by Vantec Aeroflow
EpoX 8RDA3+ rev1.1
2x256 Kingston pc2700
Western Digital WD400JB

blah blah blah some fans and stuff

since changing my case to an Antec Plusview 1000AMG temps have significantly reduced, due partly to the inclusion of a fan in the window...now they sit at around 46idle and 50 load...which is awesome considering what they used to be...

using nforce 2.03's with nvidia ide installed...catalyst 3.7's and...yeah...

The stock vcore for this 1800+ is 1.5V.

My VDimm is between 2.88 and 2.90 but usually 2.90V.

Just downloaded the Gun Metal benchmark from yetistudios.com. I know my V9520 FX5200 is no match against a good GF4MX440 card but I’ll post my bench anyway. To those guys ho have Radeon 9800’s, feel free to laugh at it

BTW I tried OC it to 300/365, turned off Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering then played C&C Generals. I really don’t think there were significant gains. It still was a little choppy (when passing your pointer above units) and I think it’s not worth OC the card.

if you can find a place with good pc3700 or pc4000 you may not have to vmod. finding fast memory that operates with the voltage provided looks like the secret to very high fsb without mods

and of coarse a cpu that stays at or above a 10x multi

Hey there kalonji. Nice stats, good performance in 3DMark too.

I'm kinda disapointed on why I got the FX5200 chipset. Well, better sell it and get a TI4800se for now until DX9 games come out.

Workin on my case mod right now. Nothing really extreme or artistic just mounting two or maybe three 120mm fans on the case for better ventilation.

See, if the manufacturers release their products w/o bugs consumers will definitely spend on moding their sys.

I'm also thinking of getting a SATA drive but I have a lot of GB to tranfer from my PATA if I'm gonna get it. Is it possible to run my current PATA and SATA at the same time?

Hey guys, if you have a stable 8RDA3+ sys and got some benchmarks/information utilities PLEASE POST your stats (your horror story with the board if you got any and of course your triumph ).

I was also thinking about upgrading my disks to SATA but I have read reports and spoken to people with them and the decent IDES's out perform the SATA drives. Buy a cheap 8mb Cache 7200 drive

Good stats there JayJay. It’s so nice to know that people are running stock with no problems. Well, maybe to those who have extreme amount of luck . I’ll assume that your File System Benchmark from Sisoft Sandra is of your WD SATA 8MB cache HDD. 35,956kb/s and 26,317kb/s (Maxtor PATA 133) is quite a nice performance increase.

I haven’t made up my mind yet whether to get a 6Y080P0 (Maxtor 80GB PATA) or 6Y080M0 (Maxtor 80GB SATA).

Good point there doogie_howser. Actually, my main concern was if I get a SATA150 it won’t be obsolete by the end of the year and I would have a new toy to play around with . Although I still have a Promise 133TX2 controller lying around here, I still consider getting the SATA worthwhile (I think ). Well, I still have a week to decide since my supplier says that the 80GB that I’m looking for are out of stock but there’s a shipment coming next week.

Case mod still ongoing.

Anyway, I really believe this forum is great! I know that these guys offer real help to those who are getting frustrated and can’t run stable so if you got your 8RDA3+ ‘s stable, PLEASE POST your benchmarks and config.

It's no baggy Tech8, Very few people have unresolved problems that aren't linked to PSU, ram or flawed BIOS settings.

EXTREME Graphic bugs using 8RDA3+ and a gf4ti4200

Hi guys, seems like quite a lot of ppl have problems with their 8RDA3+ mobos, i`ve just finished assemblement of my new comp, which consists of:

(8RDA3+)
Barton 2500+
2x256 twin mos 400ddr
maxtor 6 Y120MO SATa Drive
Asus 9280TD GF4 4200TI 128 Mb DDr 8x Agp

My problem consists in the EXTREME graphic bugs that is generated in all games i play, in some its like hell, in some you can hardly recognise it ( but the patterns of moving white rectangels and big ugly lines running straight across the landscape is still there), but in 3dmark EVERYTHING ****s up bigtime. The bugs are so extreme that you cant tell where the hell NEo is on screen in the 2001 bench, and it hangs one time and another. And the results remain unaffacted if i change detonator, ive had four different of the newest ones and it makes no difference. Ive also got powerstrip and degraded the default settings of the card to clock frequencies below standard to check if the problem was heat related, but not, everything was the same. And when you put your fingers under the heatsink, its NOT particulary hot, and in the USDM sys Supervisor the sys temp stays between 35-39 degrees, so its not to hot either, and its not bound to the CPU settings it doesent matter if its using its original fsb setting or a changed fsb and multiplier to reach 2ghz. And the it became even worse when i ran 3dmark03, then it all went black, and from that time i couldnt boot it properly again. Everytime i reached windows it flickered constantly and inevitable. I couldnt do anything and the system said that the graphic driver was unstable, but it didnt make any difference at all when i changed it. It flickered and did not respond to my actions, it was completely *****ed up, and i had to reinstall XP.

So whats the deal? Is the 8RDA3+ incompatible with the Asus 9280TD GF4 4200TI 128 Mb DDr 8x Agp graphics adapter, or have i done something seriously wrong during the installation or assembling?

And also i wanted to file a complaint regarding the Sata support. Ive got a corrupt drivers disk for the sata device install, so i had to create one myself to be able to install the OS ! And tech8, a sata drive does not make that big difference, maybe if you bench it, but
not in practic..well the bootup is faster anyhow, and that is really nice..=)

I posted earlier but it somehow got deleted.

Would just like to add that my 8RDA3+ will also not run at the stock setting as specefied.

My system:
Epox 8RDA3+
Athlon XP2500+
Geil PC3200 DDR400
Gainward GF4 Ti4800SE
Enermax 350w PSU
Seagate 80gig

Now i should not have to overclock this, plus i cant as i only have stock cooling. Upping the vcore to 1.875 raises my temps to 60c under load.

I want what i payed for, and i think epox owes us an explanation as to why this board is causing so many problems for so many people.

I cannot run Prime for more than 5 mins, i get random lockups in games.

I was also thinking this might be an SSE problem, as i can run CPU Stability test which does not use SSE for 12 hours without a problem.

Toast also locks up.

F@H locks up only when i use SSE instructions.

Anyway to turn off SSE?

Sorry about my crappy rushed post, but my last post got deleted.

It didn't some how get deleted. I deleted it. Follow our rules or don't post.

Rather that an explanation you should be seeking a solution. Nearly everyone who does figures out what they have done wrong either in terms of the parts they are using or the settings they have chosen in the BIOS.

What you should be asking is how is it that most people DON't have a problem with this board and you do? Start from there and you may get some where.
