Hey there Retributioner! Thinking of getting a good Heatsink? Well, it's a good investment no matter how you look at it. I've read reviews on the cooler master Aero 7+ and really wasn't impressed by it. I'm using Thermaltake Volcano 7+ (USDM info at the first page of this post) which you can use in a P4 or an Athlon SYS. It has good heat transfer and better if you're gonna use Arctic Silver. I got it mainly because of the fan controller that's bundled with it so I can select the RPM (lower rpm=low noise). The newer models let you place their controllers in a vacant PCI slot (more convinient). Check it out www.thermaltake.com

I store my Arctic Silver (This is my 6th tube) in the fridge pointing downwards as the instructions from their site suggests. Their explanation was that it would reduce separation but they added that separation would not affect the performance (that's true). The application times actually vary on the suface area, you'll use more if your setting up a P4 SYS and even more if you're gonna do the Graphics Card and the Northbridge chip. Let us now the temp improvement after you got your Heatsink up and running. Good Luck Mate!

I'm currently setting up my new HDD, it's a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB benchmarks to follow

Why my CPU and SYS temperatures are cooler? Check out my "airflow" design for the case and the whole computer. I guarantee it's worth it and you won't be spending that much

low cost and efficient "airflow" design

I also have the Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro, which has the Zalman heatsink, so when i overclock it, the heat dissipates to the cpu, significantly increasing temperatures...

But yeah, to answer your question...mine runs stable, you guys just sound really really unlucky
Ricki,
Hi, Im new here like ,,just now new...so I saw your post and had to get goin, I just got an 8RDA3+ rev.3.2 today, because I have always heard from friends and forum and reviews that Epox rox,,I guess,,,so now I see the others side of the situation.I think if I run things at stock speeds I'll have better luck..but I have an XP2400+ also, it's locked, and I'll have 2-512's of mushkin 3200 in there with a good enermax power supply. I'm just wondering one or two things here if you don't mind. You are running stable, right, good, thats what Im shootin for, As for the first drivers I install when I set things up, which nForce drivers, would you use ? In whatorder would you install what driver ? I want to try the on board sound, C media ? or I see a sound storm utillity on the driver CD so Can I use that ?? Im new to NForce, and mainly had VIA chipsets so please give me some direction if you don't mind ?? I figure, we got the same chip, and you are stock, I want the same thing a stable stock ,maybe slightly overclocked 8RDA3+, I also have a 6800GT, and Im hoping it won't be too long and hit the ram sockets. It's close dude. Is your 2400+ locked ? what timings ?Alright then, can you help the new geek over here ? thanks, I mean anybody who can help, you know ///
