overclock help me push it

I have a machII cooled XP3000 400fsb, running on a NF7 rev2. I've been able to bring the fsb up to 480 and run OK but then can't touch the mult without crash. Or I can bring the mult up to 13 but then the max stable clock is at 206.72. The memory is cheap Crucial PC3200, the PS will be upgraded tommorow but it is only a 250w the voltages seem to drift when monitored is this normal?

Running at 2687.31Mhz
Clock 206.72
Multi 13X
CoreV 2.15v
vDDR 2.7

Motherboard cpu temp 10.5 C
MachII head temp -34 C

I guess I shouldn't complain about a 700mhz OC. But what should I try to puss it further. TIA

Heya, Welcome to AOA Forums!

A new PSU should help a LOT! Which PSU is it that you are getting??

I just picked up a Antec SL400. I could buy it local and the computer only has one HD and a CDr in it.

To get it to pass complete in prime95 I had to change the multi to 12.5 and the fsb to 210.5 total 2630.5 I am able to run alot of programs fine with it clocked upto 2790.43 12.5 X 223, but it fails prime95 quickly. What should I upgrade next? Memory? Is so whats suggested.

Thanks
jm

jmerjr... I live in the torpics so I frequently see my temps go to the 55 degree area. CPU's still alive.

AMD says 85 degrees celcius. Since our mobo's don't neasure actual temps... than that should be adjusted downwards by 15 degrees or so.

So we are now down to 70 degress. Still a lot of room between AMD's maximum recommended operating temps and your 47 degrees celcius.

I'd watch that voltage, you're putting 2.15v through it? you might find in 2 months that you'll loose stability and have to back off the overclock a little. This will worsen a little over time even at low temps.
Are you planning to leave it on for extended periods at that voltage or are you just doing short tests?
if you plan for long term use i'd try to keep the voltage to 2v or lower. Be glad of the overclock, its typical of that stepping CPU and the given voltage/cooling.

Also is that a Prometia Mach II? I dont think you should be getting 47c Cpu temps, i'd check the mounting, should be allot lower. also 2.15v at 47c will murder the chip after time.

It is the prometia mach II, I thought the temp was high myself. The prometia unit reports -41 at idles to -23 at full load prime95. But the motherboard winbond software goes from 12-47C. For normal use it is around 20 to 30 C.

I check the cpu contact and I have a good imprint in the head any ideas?

Thanks

jm
