First try = Failure! Lol

Well, I installed my 2600+ mobile into my 8RDA3+ and booted her up. She recognized a K7 500mhz processor. I left the voltage on default and changed the FSB to 133 and the multiplier to 10 just to see if I could get it a little higher. Then it recognized a K7 600mhz.

Board posts code FF (which I have always understood as two thumbs up) but locks on blank screen. So I have to clear the cmos and try again. Anyone care to give a hint or two about some settings to start with? I REALLY don't want to have to do a rescue install of WinXP Pro (I just got SP2 on the machine) because I finally got the computer to allow me to enter my registration code and activate windows.

Anyone? I will write an epic ballad for you if you can help.

As stated before...I hate being a newbie.

you can drop a wire into the soket to get it to default to the proper speeds....
in my gigabyte 7n400 pro2 board, that was the only way i could get temps to report properly, even in bios
