its my fault!

hi all!!
ok i shouldnt have done it but just couldnt stop.
i had a low end biostar motherboard m7ncd(non pro or ultra)and updated the latest bios for it, it worked fine as a low end minimal oc'ed system.then i figured after looking at the specs that both the m7ncd and the pro version of it had similar specs(the only difference is the pro supports dual channel ram) so i upgraded the bios to the pro version.i know it shouldnt have worked and i was basicly writing off the m/b i just had to try. and wouldnt ya know it ....it worked flawlessly!! i should have stopped there as i think biostar just has the dual channel disabled in the cheap version and the pro bios enables it??
anyhow instead of counting my blessings and living with my new found dual channel capability, i got greedy and updated to the ultra version. everything was going fine and then everythig froze and shut down i was unable to get a post or even get into the bios to try anything. i am fairly shure that i roasted the bios chip.my question is dose anyone have a clue as to where or if i can even get a replacement chip for a biostar m7ncd ???
thanks

So it won't post again? I'd be willing to bet you might have fried the north bridge as I'm sure the Ultra version that you are trying to run at probably has an "active" cooler on it and your board probably has a "passive" cooler on it.

active cooler 2

hi Rob
the first thing i do when i get a new m/b is put as many fans on it as i can fit.and the biostar had no fan on the northbridge but had mounting holes for one so i put one there. but you still might be right.i never had the chance to play with it as i needed a comp right so i did a presto changeo and swapped in a MSI that was laying around. i dred swaping back just to troubleshoot it, but i probably will do so tonight maybe in a couple of hours. so i will get back and let everyone know.its 11:03 right now and i will be online till 1:00 or so.
thanks!!

BadFlash.com can help you out if it turns out you need a new bios chip.

what kind of bios chip is it? You can alway try a hot swap with an old board if its the older non soldered type.

Try this,

Dump the cmos and put only one stick of ram and nothing else. Power it up holding down the insert key.
