Red face To sell or Not to Sell

Have got the oppertunity to sell my Barton 2500 and swap it for a 3200 for £50. Barton runs at 3200. Do I sell or not! Any thoughts. Thanks as usual for any assistance.

I'm not sure I follow what you are saying?

Which of the following are you saying?

1) 2500+ runs 3200+ speeds (2.2 GHz) and you are trading for a 3200+ that runs at an unknown speed above default.

2) 2500+ runs at some speed above default and you are trading for a 3200+ that runs at 3.2 GHz?

3) 2500+ runs at 3.2 GHz and you are trading for a 3200+ that runs at an unknown speed above default?

I would have to challenge that ANYONE has a Barton that runs at 3.2 GHz on anything less than liquid nitrogen.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you are saying?

Sorry dude, I have a barton running at 200 fsb at 11.5 multiplier. gives me 2305. Steady as a rock. re reading my post would be a good idea before i post it.
I have the chance to swap it for a amd3200. It would give me same speed but at stock. I would then look to overclock. If poss.
Thanks, sorry for the confusion

The 3200+ runs 11x200, not 11.5x200.

In any case, it is not terribly likely that the 3200+ will OC any better than your 2500+. I had one (0319, IIRC) that I killed by accident. I couldn't OC it by even 2 MHz on the FSB until I had bumped the Vcore from 1.65 to 1.7. I eventually got it to 2.654 GHz, but I had to run 2.15v Vcore to do it and at that, I couldn't do it all the time (anything over about 25C ambient and I had to back off the OC). I have read various places on the 'Net that a lot of other people have had very similar experiences.

Out on a stag night last night so not being very clear. My 2500barton is running at 11.5 x 200 fsb. So do I swap or not. if i do i won't gain anything, but I lose £50. Not sure why (probably the beer from last night) but am still tempted.

I understood that from your last post.

In your previous post, you stated that the 2500+ was running 11.5x200, and then you stated that the 3200+ would give you that at stock. I was simply pointing out that stock for the 3200+ is 11x200 (2.2 GHz), NOT 11.5x200 (2.3 GHz).

Unless the 3200+ is an IQxxx stepping, and the 2500+ is an AQxxx stepping, I wouldn't swap. Also, if you do the swap, you need to make sure the 3200+ is unlocked.
