ASUS A7V880 review!

Cadaveca managed to get hold of an ASUS A7V880 motherboard, and put it through the paces. He even goes as far as removing the northbridge heatsink to check to see if there's anything under it. There was, and unsurprisingly it wasn't Artic Silver 5. After taking pictures of the board, he finally manages to fit it into a case, before running some benchmarks on it! Can the A7V880 steal the crown from the nForce2 based boards? Read on to find out more!

I aim to inform! I am slighty dissapointed by some of the reviews i read on the board, as it seems only these people have a working pci lock. Thank Aedan for the editing! Few Errors tho!

I think that cadaveca's review of the Asus A7V880 is ready for prime time. Anyone agree or disagree?

The review is there in all its glory on the front page reviews section.

Good review guy.
I currently have the A7V880 and I'm doing some testing of my own. Oddly enough the AGP lock works for me. I did have some compatability problems but it seems localized to just some soundcards (I tried 3, philips 706, SB Audigy, and TB Santa Cruz) I got the santa Cruz to work satisfactory. There are a few other trivial issues I have with the board but nothing major. All in all, like you said its a good board. Again, Good review.

do you think you could make a comparison between your board and mine, and find any differences? I'd like to know why mine does not work. I don't use anything other than the AGP slot right now.

Deryl88 - fancy doing a comparative review? I suspect you probably see some things different to cadaveca

Nice work, cadevaca!!

However, when reading the review in IE I have to scroll A LOT sideways to read every single line, like it takes up 3 pages sideways (and even when I'm on my home monitor with 1600*1200). Perhaps you guys need to work on the layout so we only need to scroll vertically, and not horizontally.

Allan - I checked in IE, and it seems fine? Can you confirm that there is a problem?

No problem reading it with Mozilla under Linux. While IE is a great, cough, cough, cough, I endeavour to use it as sparingly as possible.

It's what my clients use, so i like to be able to squash issues right away. Best way is to use the program yourself, as updates to software can come at any time.
