Epox 8kha+ mobile athlon

Hi my friend and i bought mobile athlon 2500+ anyways he has an MSI board cant remember the exact board but it is a 266a chipset. He put the cpu in and it fried that board bought another one fried that gave it to the company to try another board it also fried that. So anyways needless to say im a little bit skeptical putting it into my Epox 8kha+. I have read that Randell and a few others have put the mobile chip in their 8kha+ without flaw. Now my concern is weither he got a bunk chip and mine would be bad aswell or does this chip tend to fry motherboards that cant recognize it? Thanks for your help guys this is my first post but i visit frequently.

There is no way I know of that a 2500+ mobile could fry a mobo designed to handle a Palamino core or better. Your friend got a duff chip.

true, the 2500M woulden't be responsible for the death or your m'board.
it won't, wouldn't and couldn't even post on that 'board. the kt266a will
work with Palamino core Athlon only. AXP2100 max. I have eight 266a's
and not enough Pali's to go around. i have tried T'breds in 1 or 2 of them
and it doexn't work. put the Pali in and no problem. haven't killed any of
the 266a mb with a 333 cpu. I must add this, the KM266 PRO chipset
is a 333mHz board that will handle the 333fsb cpu's.

something else has caused the demise of your motherboard.

Sorry i think u misunderstood the question my friend was the one that friend it on 3 boards regardless the chipset type ( he tried 266 333 and 400 )
now randell and a few others around this board ( i did a search and emailed him ) have the 8kha+ running a mobile 2500+. Im fine if the chip doesnt work in my mobo, but if it fries it id be a little upset! thx guys and thx for the welcoming

Hey just thought i would let u all know that the processor im currently tweaking it right now but it is recognizing it as a k7 just wondering, will this not alow me to get the extra instructions and benefit of an athlon?
