Epox Ep-8kda3i

Hi, I'm thinking about building a Sempron 3100 sys and OCing it. I was wondering if any has tryed OCing with the EPOX EP-8KDA3I, and if it was worth getting. Any info on this or any other good Socket 754 borad for less then $110 would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AOA Forums, Calendae!

The Epox experts might still be sleeping off their Christmas dinners. Tsk!

I don't think epox and 'ocing' any longer go together. Go for a DFI, MSI or GB 754

Epox no longer takes heed of what the overclocking community desire. Taking 754 boards as an example:
> Their boards now come with pitiful voltages options and ranges: 2.8V max vdimm!? that's default voltage as far as most hardcore overclockers are concerned. I’m fed up with vmodding epox boards - shouldn’t have to be done.
> Limited bios options – especially with memory timings
> Intrinsic faults/poor implementations affecting overclocking (e.g. low vcore problems on 8KDA3 series, poor chipset cooling)
> Memory size and type compatibility problems, making hassle free overclocking difficult

Sure the boards ‘perform’ well and have a good feature set, but they simply are no longer a top choice for overclockers. I went from 8K3A+ to 8RDA+ to 8KDA3J and it’s been getting progressively worse. You only have to look through these forums to see the distinct lack of success stories. How many people are getting record overclocks / 3dmark scores etc on epox boards these days? No-one.

all my epox boards (rda+ rev 1, rev 1.1, 8kra2+ and rda3+ rev 3.2) have been good oc'ers...hopefully, this board gets some decent results....230 seems easy enough from what i've been reading on various forums....

Hey I'm content that you should think so, enjoy.

Quite an impressive overclock of 2.7Ghz on a A64 K8 939 3000+ on an Epox board.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=49475

It has been said before that high voltages may not be needed to achieve high overclocks on these boards.
