I guess it's human nature to look a gift horse in the mouth

you are right that a segment of society have a mindset that they are somehow entitled. I've been on job seekers allowance briefly and some, but I must stress not all, of the people have this mind set. Like the system owes them it.

In the end, the mindset of "gimme--I deserve it" destroys the people that fall into this trap. Eventually you grow out of it. Hopefully.

I think supermarkets do give away some food to the homeless. Obviously, it has to be safe to eat, i.e. just gone past the best before date and not meat or dairy products.

I don't think the problem is lack of food, but lack of the facilities and labour required to cook and give it to the homeless.

Anyhow, I don't know what the real situation is with these AMD chips. But, many large manufacturers do dispose of substandard products in third world countries. Many will deny it because they have removed their name and serial numbers. They will just claim that they are either fakes or stolen. Often the duff products will find their way back in to wealthier countries which causes a headache for the manufacturers.

I can say that supermarkets, at least here in town, do give away food. I personally know someone collects day old bread from a local supermarket to distribute to families that are less fortunate. I find that Canadians are more about community that other places...we like to help those in need...perfect example is a fmaily that fell victim to a fire christmas eve. I'm sure the 30,000 in cash they recieved from other people here in the city helped brighten thier spirits a bit.

I don't see any problem with corporations giving away things that do not work 100%...even at a discount. If they can used, then why not?

There is enough food produced in the world that noone should be hungry. Period. Distributing it, however, is another story. That involves money...money that has to come from somewhere.

i think you and I have come to the same conclusions on this story.

I'd like to agree with this, but the cynic in me looks at the current state of our welfare system and wonders..........

Welfare has a lot more issues wrong with it than just some of the people on it saying "I deserve it." If we fixed other problems, you probably wouldn't have generational welfare families either. (and no, by fixing it, I don't mean scrape it)

So...when the world was new it belong to everyone and each had access to what they required. Now the world is old and owned, every square inch of it, and only they that hold titles written in the blood of innocence have a right to draw from the well.

Now only if we labor for our masters are we worthy of the food nature once provided to all....

Now even life itself is being laid claim to in laboratories around the world.

When they lay claim to your grand children souls, remember, we said "I own this" when we were shackled in the chains ownership forged.

We signed our lives away when we stopped loving and started owning the worlds we pass through...

Order requires only that our demands be modest, good stewardship, requires only a degree of control, to see that all may come and go freely from the well.

In our vanity we would own what we do not understand and deny our brothers the waters we are muddying with our careless feet.

For all of this, our tears will never dry...
