Unlocking Multiplier with NF7-S and Athlon XP 2800+ (barton)

Hi ppl, i would like to know how to unlock the multiplier on my CPU (athlon XP 2800+, which is fixed at 12.5x, so i can decrease it to about 10.5 / 11 to increase FSB speed to 200 in order to speed up my ram to 400 mhz. Help please :P

if it's a post week 0339, it's more than likely superlocked and you won't be able to change the multi in the bios...

That won't unlock the CPU. It only changes the default multiplier on an already unlocked CPU.

What you need to do is read up on powernow features. There is a method of tricking the CPU into thinking it is a mobile... Then you can use software to use the "power saving" features to lower the multiplier. There was a lot of stuff on it about a year ago. I lost track since the methods were reliable only with Via chipsets. They don't seem to work reliably with NF2 chipsets.

The mod you have shown in the pic will just change the default FSB from 166mhz to 200mhz. To enable multiplier control, you need to join some bridges on the cpu itself to get the chip recognized as a mobile, should it be one of the "hardlocked" cpu's. You will also require a via chipset, and have to make the changes from stock speeds in windows.(LoL Steve and I posted at about the same time)
