The whole system matters, CPU has to be capable, Motherboard has to be capable, Ram has to be capable, other wise you aren't going to Overclock worth a hoot. under best conditions I don't think you will get past 2.4 Ghz which might be equivalent to a 3400 if they made one.

Go second-hand. There are a host of really good boards for sale around (I have a DFI Infinity UltraB for sale myself) and these can offer very good value upgrades.

But of course, I'm clearly biased

How much you want for the DFI? Been looking for one of them myself, but new they are still shockingly expensive and I cant trust ebay. I've seen a couple there but the prices were still too high for a private sale of what may turn out to be a bunch of molten chips and solder after somebody trainwrecked it.

I bet the XP-M2200+ runs stable to at least 2.4GHz (XP3400+ if it existed). Mine hits 2.5 just fine but I run it at 2.4.

BTW, the A7N8X boards in my sig overclock pretty well. Using the Trats modded BIOS I can hit FSB 235. Can run all day at 10.5x230 dual channel but I dropped back to 218x11 to cool the NorthBridge (hopefully this is good logic?).

The DFI B revsisions are bloody good boards.

You are right about the 240mhz FSB out of the box too, my mates DF- Lanparty B setup with lamost the exact components as me (apart from PC4000 memory) manages 2.75ghz on an XP2500-M @ 250mhz fsb.
