Who said no 2x16 pci-e?

According to Tom's Hardware, Foxxcon has taken the position that they will compete with ASUS, undoubtably the OEM shipping the most products in the global market today. One of thier entries, featured at Computex 2005, brings professional server bandwidth in an ATX package:
Quote:
One very interesting motherboard is the NFPIK8AA-8EKRS, and by "interesting" we are not referring to the cumbersome product name. This is a single Opteron motherboard based on the nForce4 Professional chipset, running two real x16 PCI Express slots. It should be available within just a few weeks, and targets the workstation market.
The board features everything a regular server would, SKT940, two chipsets, dual gigabit ethernet connections, two IDE ports, and 8 SATA, featuring RAID 0, 1,and 0+1. Of course, the board features nVidia's SLI as well

Why SKT940? For the extra hypertransport link to the chipset, of course! Although this may seem an obvious choice, given the number of chipsets, hidden behind that opteron cloak is AMD's next platform for the desktop market, albeit with a slightly different pinout. However, the question still remains, when one ponders the idea, how exactly does that work with DDR2?

This is one impressive mainboard. Now if only I needed that kind of power...

OK correct me if im wrong but doesnt SLI traditionally use two x8 slots? Or 1 single port at x16 if using a single card?

Does this mean you can use 2 x16 speed ports in SLI configuration?

This board offer 16 lanes to both cards while in SLi. It requires an additional chipset.. A while back I said that it was coming, and people said i was crazy for saying it would happen...that it would cost too much, too complex, blah blah blah...To them, I say "For shame in doubting me!"

Then again, I had the clock speeds for the world record singlecard 3DMark05 score off by just 2 mhz on the mem...and 8 on the gpu... I bet Macci's still trying to figure that one out.
