dual core setup

okay boys and girls, im getting a dual core, and I want YOUR advice in what to get, my budget is $1699, forget about power supply and optical drives...I dont need them, only the CORE components/ performance parts. Im a gamer, I moderately overclock, I want name brands, not any crap brands I havent heard of (bad experiences). One thing though, I want an amd processor ONLY, no intel crapbag. thanks

Sounds like you just need someone to build for you almost.

Personally, I'd take the 4400+(3800+ ok if cash is short), 7800GT or GTX(as ATI cards are not yet available), 2GB of ram in 2 sticks, and the ASUS SLI Premium, or DFI lanparty SLi. HDD of your choice, and i would recommend getting a ATX v2.0 PSU with seperate 12v rails.

I don't know prices or where...i'm in canada.

As cadaveca said I suggest 3800+ and DFI.
4400+ is more expensive and you will not see great differences..
3800+ has 10X multiplier --> no problem for high FSBs cos all DFI achieve 300+ MHz FSB.
Of course you should buy a qualified PSU with seperate +12V rails.
About video card?
Sorry I don't play games.

you don't play games but you make XG drivers! ok...

Yeah, i'd say a DFI LanParty and a 7800GTX and 2 gigs of DDR-400, possibly crucial.

or how about going to http://www.nationwidepc.co.uk/ and making a custom one! Click on gaming on the left navigation and select. The prices are in GBP so just double to get approx US price. You can customise like i said so check it out.
