Opteron 144

It was delivered from TigerDirect today... a bit pricy at $170, but all other places were sold out of them. I've had a 7800GT and a DFI LP NF4 Ultra-D waiting for this baby... and I'm excited because...

...its a CABNE!!!!! Woo! Well, not to get too excited yet, but they are by all reports the best, and capable of hitting over 3ghz. I would have been happy as long as I didn't get the "cabbage" CABGE. I've got watercooling so I'm looking forward to seeing what this baby can do. Will post pics when I'm done with the upgrade. I'm on my "old" rig now.

Yeah.

I'm still deciding whether to get an Opteron or an Athlon.

But good luck in getting it to 3ghz. Like Lazgoat said, it's not guaranteed, but it's not impossible either. =D

Rather than the 144, look for the 148's. Reports I've seen are that there is a better chance of hitting 3gig with them than the 144's

Hm.

Opteron was my initial choice, because of the bigger cache size. But then I became slightly undecisive.

I dunno. I want the opteron, but I haven't heard enough about it to be convinced. If I was to get an Opteron, I'm going with the 148 all the way.
