Wow. That's one expensive piece of silicon that will be obsolete before the year is out.

I feel bile rising. I don't see where they can get off selling it for more than 3x the value of my car (an old *cough*1981*cough* Honda Civic that works fine. Except for the air conditioning, radio, the driver side window. Also it's manual transmission. But it gets 35mpg, no kidding).

I'm sorry I just got into a rant about my car, I'll try not to do it again. Expensive processor. Yeah. Sorry again.

They get off selling it for that price because idiots with more money than brains and egos far too large for their own good (or anyone else's) are willing to pay it.

Normally at this point, I would make a smart arsed remark, ridculing your Athlon XP-M, but rather than that, I'll save myself the trouble, and let William Shakespeare do the explaining for me.

I should really get a medal for making the most culturally significant post ever in the history of the internet, and better yet, making it relevant to a CPU.

Sometimes I even scare myself...

So, even a man that's been dead for 500 years can say that the only reason everyone (mainly K7 owners) hate brilliant new CPUs, is because they can neither afford, nor socket them.

Or perhaps I am being a smart arse after all?

Quoting William Shakespeare though... That was a James Bond moment there...

I don't like the FX-60 and I have a s939. I just think it's to overpriced. It's cheaper to buy a good cooler and 4400+ and OC to the same speed.

Overclocking is the point. A serious overclocker buys FX chips for the unlocked multiplier. The FX are binned as the best of the best, and will OC better, as well as having the unlocked multi.

It fills that void in the dual core lineup.

Hmm, should I spend US$2,300 on a PC system with a US$1,200 chip in it, or should I spend US$9000 on an E10K instead? Which would be faster? That is a tough question!

I shall wait for Socket AM2 and then see how things pan out from there.

I would take the $2300 PC.

A $9000 E10K (had no idea it was so cheap) would be a riscy (pun indended) investment.

And it doesn't play Far Cry as well

That's the first dented pun I've seen! I say dent and crush them, puns don't deserve our respect!

Sorry, I have no interest in Far Cry! Wonder how well an E10K could run BOINC/WCG?
