I have tons of pics from FAB36. the automation of the complex is almost scary...little boxes of silicon wafer floating through the ceilings everywhere.


AMD's "AMD in the Enterprise" marketing effort has some good video on FAB36 as well, for those that are interested. I'll dig up a link later.

I wonder if they have a "concept" cpu in the middle of one of those racks?

Almost. Costs alot of money to even get one of those boxes in the first place. If you took out the production costs, and went with straight material costs from start to finish, and the mark-up in insane.

Having your own fab is the place to be in the world right now, but darn it all if it doesn't take a few billion to build one! I consider it print-your-own-money-right inducing on that alone!
