HT and Real-time Turbo?

hi all,
I've noticed that in the power Bios page of the bios on my motherboard, there is an option called real-time turbo. Has anyone got any idea what this does?

Also, is HyperTransport technology basically the 'updated' version of FSB if you know what i mean? I'm just really confused about things at the moment and i tend to forget the most basic things.

Thanks,
Scott.

Can't answer your question about real-time turbo I'm afraid.

HyperTransport (HT) isn't an updated version of FSB. On older processors, the FSB was the gateway to everything on the motherboard, such as memory and peripherals.

For processors that use HT, HT is the gateway to all the peripherals. It does not provide any link to memory. Why is this important? Well, the processor is fed with a base clock, in the same way that an older processor was fed the clock from the FSB.

This clock is fed to two different multipliers.
One multiplier produces only the HT clock.
The other multiplier produces the CPU core clock.

Now, those paying attention will notice that there's no memory clock yet. The memory clock is generated from the CPU core clock. Basically, the memory clock is the CPU core divided by the memory divider!

Hence, changing the core frequency via the multipliers can alter the memory clock, but not the HT clock. Changing the base clock changes memory, core and HT!

I've found a truly stable OC will have a FSB of 1000, just on a side moment.

Really? I've had to set mine at auto because 5xHT just causes reboots. I have got 2.6Ghz though stable.
