Socket 754

just when I was thinking about making the move to Socket939 and dual
core to boot. I see that AMD has doubled the HTT on their Skt754 cpu's
to 1600MHz. do you suppose this move will help the 754? from my non
technical background, the numbers do make an impression. after all, if
800MHz is good, then 1600MHz is twice as good. no?
I will make a scientific wild @ss guess, not necessarily so. I am in now
way trying to pretend to know what the HTT increase means. or to be
an expert. I have 2 skt754 cpu with 800MHZ HTT and now it looks like
they are passe. looks like I sell off all the sktA stuff and start over.
I think Socket754 will be around at least a long as SocketA, maybe a
little longer.

it's always been 1600mhz. they just use 1600mhz over 800mhz x2, simply because people "understand" that better.

754 is currently slated to outlast 939, as 939 is pushed out for the new socket and DDR2(which still uses the same 939 chipsets, BTW).

very interesting about 939. my thoughts where around Folding rigs. as the
replacement for sktA rigs is inevitable, what platform is going to perform
for the money?

i suggest 939, as dualcore is an option in the future then, once X2 prices start to drop.
