So then nVidfia cards are not CPU starved...they are bandwidth starved?

Same does not apply to ATI cards tho...increases in HTT speed do not reflect a noticible performance boost when memoryspeed is kept the same...eg 11x255, ram @ 200, or 14x200, ram @ 200.

I noticed the same with nViida cards, but there was a slightly larger bump maybe enough to show 3% at most. cranking up the pci-e bus to 121mhz shows 3-4%.

ATI cards don't take kindly to pci-e overclcoks. Maybe it's the chipset, maybe not...but then again the ATI cards to not seem so bandwidth starved in the first place...so thier protocol on the pci-e bus is faster?

Well, the benches seem to suggest otherwise, as do your own comments. However, nVidia seems to think that upping the bandwidth will help them, don't they?

Odds are, it's just a marketing tactic to convince us to buy their cards and chipsets, without any real benefit. If that is the case, though, it will be apparent in the benches when you compare a standard system to an overclocked one.
