More Overclocking!

Well, i have been messing around with trying to get my rig to run at a 400mhz FSB, which i have never been able to achieve for some reason. Now that i have better memory, i am having more luck. I used to have Mushkin, the absolute cheapest memory they have, and i think it was the problem. Now i have Supertalent RAM, which is made by Xerox, and it is much better. It runs at 2-3-3-7, in dual channel, and as of right now my rig is running at 200x12, and so far it is stable. I have run a couple stability tests and it has passed. I havnt run them for a very long period of time yet, so i feel it is still a bit early to say it is completely stable, but i have high hopes. I know i should be able to run at a 400mhz FSB with no problems, but until now the best i was able to get was 180x13, so if it stays stable now i will be extremely happy. I will keep you up to date on my progress.

Yes my northbridge is actively cooled. I had to raise the core voltage to 1.725, and the memory voltage to 2.7, and so far i have been stability testing for 18 hours with no errors. My temps have not gotten above 46c so i am very pleased with these results. I have achieved a 28% overclock on air, how could i not be happy about that? All the advice i have recieved on this site has allowed me to achieve this. Thank you AOA, my home away from home.

Well, i had to up the voltage once again, to 1.75v, it tested stable for 18 hours but as soon as i was 1 minute into playing Oblivion it crashed.....so i raised the voltage and then i played for several hours with no problems, so i think it is stable now, finnaly.

Did you check temps after the Volt hike? .25 shouldn't make much if any diff.

It raised the temp by 1 degree under load, so i am not worried about it. It stays pretty cold where my computer is anyway so temps have never been an issue. I use an Artic Cooling HSF which works pretty well. Thanks for the replies Sam.

I am using the official latest bios. I tried a couple of other bios's in the past and had some problems so i stuck with the official one.

Are you sure you can't get your core up any higher?

I probably can, i just havnt tried it yet. I just got it to be stable at 200x12, so i will try to get it higher soon. If anyone knows of a specific modded bios that works well, let me know. there are so many to choose from i dont know which one to try, but if anyone has any experience with a specific one, let me know and i will give it a try.

''NarkotikBuzz'' you've got the bug now 200FSB is a pivotal point in your life of overclocking, the problem is now like the rest of us you will find the need to go higher. And we will hold your hand on this trip like others did for me. And a water mod I see is not to far in the future now for you.
