Most noble offer, dabaerman! I hope the D850 is salvageable.
cloasters, I get no joy when one of us is having trouble. if I can help in any way. it's the way I was raised. the guy at work gave it to me(and it works too), now I can give it to someone who really needs it.

I pm'd Jen with the good news.

I re-read Jen's post about an Epox 8K7A. silly friend gave me an EP-8KTA+ board with the chip. haven't tested the board yet.
it's late. pulled a double shift, 6AM to 11PM, so off to bed. L8R

One of 2 things:
first - the easy way is to clip them off and sand them smooth with a belt sander.

second - the much cooler method would invlove a waxpaper box the size of the chip and depth of the pins, pour that polyurethane into it and let it harden, then cut the edges off even with the chip edges. leaving the pins intact and covered so you dont get poked.

either way you need to super glue a keyring thingie on it cause yer sure as **** not gonna drill through the ceramic...

/sigh.. Sorry to hear about your chip.. hehe.. I'm expecting another cpu to show up in the next week or so.. and hope I don't hear anything crack . Is an XP more prone to cracking then a T-bird?
