Upgrade research...

'lo I'm just doing some research for a very near future upgrade, and I am trying to decide what would be a good choice for CPU... I want to go AMD, but not sure whether I want an FX or a dual core... whats the fastest CPU AMD makes right now? any MB suggestions would help as well... I'm going to need an SLI board for my 2 6800's

X2 5200+ is fastest non-FX, FX62 same speed. 5000+ is the same speed, however differnt core and cache sizes.

MOtherboard...seems the 590SLi would be a treat, however please be aware that 550, 570, 590 are the same chipset, a la NForce4.

I have Nforce4 now on the epox 8npa sli, I haven't had any trouble with it other than the annoying forceware network manager thing, but I've gotten used to that, I think I'm gonna sway more towards dual cores...

Hmmm... I'm thinking about AM2 based board for a future PC upgrade. They say that even future AM3 CPUs gonna be compatible with AM2 platforms.
