Advice on upgrade

I have a Abit NV8 754 socket mobo, and AMD 64 3000+ my psu is a Thermaltake W0093RU ATX 12V 2.0 500w. I was going to upgrqade to a AMD 4400+ Toledo and a ASUS A8N5X Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4. Does my psu post the mobo? What cpu would you suggest for the best performance vs price.

The PSU should be fine....you may need a 20+4 pin adapter, but that should come with the motherboard or PSU. As for price/performance.....X2 3800+ @ $150, dual core 939 @ a great price.

Thanks for the reply. The reson that I asked about the psu is because it has two 12v rails, one at 15a, the other 16a, I think. I read somewhere that one 30a 12v rail was needed or optimal.I looked but can't find anyoneelse that has the same psu and mobo.

Yeah, see, you have a 31a 12v. Just add the two rails together. There are very few (if any) PSUs that'll put out 30a on one rail.

But I'm not absolutely sure.
