Dual core 939's any good ?

I've noticed that UK suppliers are currently quoting the 939 dual cores at around the same price point as the single cores (the AM2's have a healthy differential).

Has anyone actually experienced/benchmarked an improvement on the 939 dual cores over single cores ?

It's essentially two single cores on the same die, it has to be faster!

And when processors with 4 cores come along we'll be able to do four at a time

Great overclocks - do you think the dual core makes very much difference or is it the quality of the Opteron core ?

Dual core would make a difference, yes. A massive difference in fact. You'll notice the speed as soon as you use it. Believe me.

As for quality; Well, it's an Opteron. From my personal experience, I've noticed that all Dual Core Opterons are badass! If you're planning on getting a Skt 939 Dual Core, Opteron is a good choice, mainly because of their overclocking potential and cache sizes.

Hope this helps.

I got to feel really stoopid a little bit ago. I've loved the speed of my x2 3800 for months. Now I realize after all this time, it's been running half speed. Off topic post in a car forum. people were posting CPUz screenshots. Sooo.. I downloaded it and was ready to show mine, when I saw 5x??????? went into the bios and set it to 10x and did a mild fsb OC while I was in there. Damn, brother, this thing flies now. Too bad I was so stupid for so long.

After fixing the multiplier, it looks like this.

I read somewhere that a 4800+ X2 is equal to 2 4000+ single core cpu's.
8ghz relative processing power. when quad core comes... 4 x 2.6ghz = goodness knows what
