AMD having trouble with 65nM?

The Inquirer reported Saturday that AMD appears to be having trouble getting the new 65 nM chips to hit even low speeds at 'stock' voltage. For 65 nM, this means 1.4v instead of the 1.1v they were apparently aiming for.

I rember saying a while ago intel has a much greater resource for solving problems AMD is still quite small in size. What worrys me is the low speeds. It's not the low volts I'm really after but haveing a high stock speed.

"The motherboard installation section essentially said "refer to motherboard manual for installation instructions". My motherboard manual of course said "refer to case manual for further installation instructions"."

Not only can the core2 chips hit high clock speeds but they can also tick along at very little power. When i first had my chip and i allowed it to do its funky speedstep thing, it would idle along at 2GHz using 1.05v and would be stone cold (25C in a 23C room, on air cooling)
The default for 2.66GHz is 1.3v, but with as little as 1.4v it hits 3.5GHz+
Going much faster than that does require a drastic voltage hike.
Lets hope amd can keep on intels tale. They need to with that huge loan they've taken out to buy Ati !
