She's a bit older, but she still carries herself well.."Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe Review"

Socket 939 systems just may be the top value choice for any budget-minded AMD enthusiast: Select processor models have fallen well below the prices of newer Socket AM2 counterparts, and the builder can carry over any DDR-1 performance RAM they have left over from their previous build. Recent CPU prices have seen the X2 4400 Socket 939 at half the price of its AM2 counterpart!

That's pretty cool!

It means I can build a game server for pennies. Plus the CPU is still damn amazing.

Nice one, Mr Daniel~

My brother is still on 754, too.

I insisted on waiting for a 939 drop, but he went and bought a Conroe. That silly, silly boy. He doesn't even have a 775 motherboard yet. =D

Well neither do I ...but my situation is a bit more balanced in that I lack a Conroe as well! ":O}

I still have an Socket A. Hell, I just recently replaced a Pentium III...and only because I had more CPUs than cases and it didn't make the cut for using up my valuable case real estate.

I'm still living in the Skt478 era, but heck it does what it's meant to do, so i'm not complaining.

it's a lot like haveing Champagne taste on a Beer budget. not all beer
gets better with age. I have 8 sktA and 2 skt754 with an eye towards
skt939. the 'trailing edge' costs less than the 'leading edge' when it comes
to computing for personal use. the recreational 'user' can do worse that
an 8RDA+/Barton. 'Gamers' are another part of the equation that has to
be at the forefront of technology, higher clocks, faster ram, and gpu's
that make my old nVidia Riva TNT2 64 look like an etch-a-scetch. since
my main focus at this time is Folding@Home and what I have works for
that, I am ok on the older stuff.
I am truely amaised by the progress of the technology as it creates an
intrest in and a desire for the bright and shiny things. I will continue the
move forward altho a little behind the times.

Stuck on 754 whaat. My old NF3 250Gb is still my all time favorite mobo and it's still flyin along. I think I've run at least 6 different cpu's through that thing and I'll never get rid of it. First cores were clawhammers. 3400 co 3700cg. Then Newarks 3700 4000. A Newcastle 3400 and Now a 3400 Venice. It's nearly 5 yrs old now and has been abused since day 1 and right now it's runnin 275X10 1:1 mem. All of those cores died horrible voltage deaths and yet that board is still plowin along as my sons gaming rig. He absolutely loves it and so do I. When it finally dies I'm gonna frame it hang it on my wall.
