Opty

Will upgrade to an Opteronx2 175 2.2 s939 in the next few days .
Any special considerations, or it is just drop and go?

Well, the 175 was $229 @ Monarch and my budget for cpu was about $250-270, so I go for it.
Do you think I make a bad deal?

A 175 is a good choice. It will do very well for you.

I asked, because the difference between 170 and 175 is very small. You could save some money (ok, not much) and overclock it.

I have this tendency to over do it and to compensate the lack of knowledge with hardware(I think some of you have already notice).

Will it helps if I told you that I'm gona match it with 2 sticks 1Gb ea of Muskins Red Line PC-4000?

A dual-core 175 would perk up my day! $236 at Newegg, btw.

If you're going to run stock speeds, then yes a 175 is faster than a 170. But for o/c'ing, a 175 gains nothing over a 170. Even a 165 is better price-wise unless you need the 10x multi that the 170-and-up gives you.
