Need CPU recomdation

Knowing almost nothing about AMD-Ive put together aan Athlon 64 x2 rig w/a Gigabyte board. the board will take up to the Athlon 64 FX 62, or the optrons.
WHat CPU would be the esd upgrade? Is a quad the way to go?
I'm blind here with no idea how to jump'!

Quad is the way to go for a folding rig. Should be able to do 3000ppd with a mild OC

The 9650 for 109.00 would probably be the best bang for the buck
