update on the cellphone material

after having the cellphone stuff for a few weeks i got up early this morning and thought i would give it a try and am here to report partial success.partial because i tried to unlock earlier with the defogger paint and not only failed miserably but scraped most of the material off around the bridges exposing bare copper.after repeated attempts at covering the exposed material with superglue and whiteout only a few of the contacts were still visible without a 10x magnifier.

after searching for my magnifier for 20 minutes,i thought i would give it a go with 20/50 vision and some reading glasses.

placing the matrerial on the chip i noticed it would have to be cut.the contact strip runs along the inside covered by a rubber like substance on each side.i placed it flat on the table and cut about a third of it off.i noticed then that the contact stripruns contigously through the material so each peice could be used.i then placed it on the visible contacts and used a peice of scotch tape to hold it in place.put a little as on the heatsink and reinstalled.

i expected a no go and it wouldn't boot right off,but i have the 1.0 verson kt7a so i rebooted holding the insert key a few times and she booted up at 10x133.this seemed strange because it normally boots at the default 10x100 with the delete key.
i entered the bios and set to 10.5x133,entered and she booted at 1333.not really dismayed i reset and entered bios again and set to 11x133,entered and she booted up at 1470!

it was so easy it took only about five minutes!

now i have 9 and 2/3 peices left which would unlock 29 more chips.i wish i had more xp chips.i paid 25 bucks for the 10 strips so it would cost less than a buck a chip and is the easiest unlock possible.

this is a great day to be an overclocker.

oh a few other things

v core 1.69

Great!
I just got the same stuff... looking closely at it, I notice that there are 2 sides with the conductive strips. In the video I saw, it looked like the guy cut it length wise, so in theory, each strip could unlock like 6 cpus. Does that sound rite?? (I guess I bought too many, lol. I bought 4 so in theory, I could unlock like 24. :-D

Too bad I have to wait until the weekend to try to unlock it.

I couldn't get this to work, and have the EXACT same problem with exposing the part around the bridges... haven't bothered fixing it as the chip is a weak overclocker anyway (won't even hit above 1600mhz without too much voltage).

I'll upset you - I've just soldered one - an XP 2100+ and burnt through the L10 also with the soldering iron and it works a treat !!

But it is quite true that if you are going to overclock- it is pointless to use a locked processor.

You feel a sense of acheivement when you do it too and it raises your game. You feel like your doing it properley !!
