Still going to need a little more info M8.

Spaciffically.... what kind of system is thet duron in. (ie. home build/ company build)
What motherboard ? Bios version would be nice to know.

The chip you have is very capable of overclocking with the proper knowledge. Most durons will see 150 mhz easily and more if you have the proper cooling and voltages.

Keep in mind one more thing please. This is a forum and your answers may trickle in over the next day or so. I have tried to get you in the right direction and help you get the info you will need to know but I must be off to work now. Good luck, and let me say it again. Read up on overclocking as much as possable. There is no substatute for knowledge in this game.

You will have to connect the L1 bridges in order to use the multipliers.

There's some explanation to this here

Hi,

Could you tell us the following:

Make and model of motherboard
Make and model of graphics card
Type of memory (PC100, PC133, etc)
What you have in the system:
- sound card
- modem/network card
- hard discs - their make, size and type
- cd/dvd drives, make and speed

Also, what flavour of windows are you running?

That's should give us enough to get you started. It might seem wierd asking for things like hard disc specs in relation to an overclock, but overclocking the CPU also forces other parts of your computer to run faster - some things are known not to appreciate major overclocks.

In the list, brand names are important, too

Think it's safe to say the software he's using to detect these settings are at fault. prolly 100mhz

Random's right in that the memory reading needs checking... could that be the AGP bus speed rather than the front-side bus sped you've read?

Just looking up the board (it's now in it's fifth revision) it's based on the KM133A chipset, which is the cut-down version of the KT133a for micro-atx boards - just had a lot of legacy hardware removed.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. Any software diagnostic is subject to a few glitches. Most likely, it is reading the AGP bus. All Duron's run 100FSB (by default ).

I have no familiarity with MSI boards.... And the features of this board will dictate how easy or hard an oc will be.

Iceman, the only advice I can offer is to download MBM (motherboard monitor) from our AOAfiles area. It is a very useful program in windows that will monitor your voltage, fan speed, and TEMPERATURES. Heat is the enemy, and it can quickly turn a fast CPU into a useless hunk of congealed sand.

edit: (dang, you guys are fast... )

i had a post on here about overclocking the same cpu i connected the L1 bridges with a pencil turned on computer retryed it about 4 times still nothing extra so i went to read reviews on my motherboard and overclocking on it and it turns out my motherboard supports very little overclocking i did manage to overclock though but only went from 800mhz to 855mhz and now running at 42C and 44C after gaming
