New FX 4170

They had it at the Egg for $140 and with a promo code it was down to $130 with free shipping. (Might not be here till Thursday) I decided on the 4170 a I don't know that I need more than one core, let alone eight and this one was faster before OC'ing
Locally I bought a Gigabyte FXA 990FX UD7 Motherboard. I did zero research on it, just bought Gigabyte because my last board was Gigabyte and it did not frustrate me. After I ordered it I thought maybe I should have bought a Crosshair or looked at MSI, but oh well this should work.
I got a Coolermaster 1200W PSU and HAF 932 case
2 X 8 DDR1600 Ballistix, Crucial 256 SSD, WD Black Terabyte Drive, Samsung Bluray reader / DVD Burner. Win 7 Ultimate 64, some more software, new joystick......
And a XFX Black 7970

I won't have it all till the end of the week as I'm off doing work. (Hate that but all this stuff is a little pricey) and then there's electricity too.

Sounds like a good and up to date rig, good choice. If you like, please keep us in the loop as you're building it. Thanks!

Yes I do, it is at Mom's house in Montana, but I am going to bring here stuff back to my house the first week of May and the NF-7S and two others will return with me. The Nf7-S was my Mom's main machine till I got her out here with me. (She is losing her memory fairly rapidly)

Any way I have a AN-8 Fatal1ty for her here. I am not sure that I really have a place for a Socket A anymore. I still have a good EPoX board too.

My new machine is up and running super.

I need nf7-s. Mine died and I had my drives on it running in raid.
So I need it to get the data off the drives.

I am sorry I missed that last post, I do have the NF7-S here with me now (In the Garage) it hasn't been powered up in a couple of years.

If you still need it let me know

The 4170 is running strong in a ASRock Fatal1ty board now.

I got a 4350 in a MSI 990FX G80 V2 board now that is a bargain combo the cheapest "Premium" board with a energentic CPU
