yea, im back again...

and guess what i brought with me this time?

see below.

now that my stress levels are back to normal and the horrible job is through, i hopefully get some time to work on my own stuff.

so below is box 0ne.
sporting an 80Gb Samsung 7200rpm drive, it'll be a game-only box.

altho, i have also another Soltek drv5 (? whatever, you know the one) and an XP1800... to mate up with the Gainward GF3 Ti 128Mb goldie!! and samsung 333 DDR

school's out on the soltek tho... it's a nice board, but needs testing to find that perfect sync.
whereas the AK35 is just amazing so far, and anything i raise up, it just accepts happily. whatta mobo!

so anyways, hows you guys?

AK35GTR (RAID) KT266a
XP1600+
Xtasy GF3 Ti 175 | 400
Nanya DDR 256Mb PC2100
Samsung 80Gb 7200rpm HDD.
Dr. Thermal chiller.

so far in testing...

150 FSB no sweat.
CAS 2 RAM 1T timings, no sweat.
BIOS sees a XP1900+
GF3 clocked at 200 | 480 no sweat.

running 3Dmark2001SE and Passmark burn in pro 2.2 all day w/o a glitch!

all this at 1.85vcore and a generic 300wt. PSU, and + .5v bump for the DDR too.
this mobo allows for 2.2vcore LMAO

it's gonna be a fun summer!!!

Dr. Thermal by Thermal Integration.
(website: http://www.thermal-integration.com/ )

i picked one up cuz i read good reviews. you can see it here:
http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....113-002-03.JPG
{and attached pic below}
and they go for $19.00 @ Newegg (bestest place in da world)
like i said, i read really good things and figured it'd be great and cheap for a non-O/C'd box.. and it's great for O/C'ing also as it turns out. also worth mentioning is that it'll direct air towards/onto your RAM so that's a bonus.

this box was'nt intended to work so good, O/C so easily/well
i figured i'd just use it as a massive media center/ storage dump/ etc.. nothing for gaming and that's why...
i did'nt use an AX-7.. those are the best, i have 2 cuz i like em so much.
i'd would'nt recommend anything other than two cooling items right now.
AX-7 obviously,
and for modded cases, or light quiet O/C'ing the Thermaltake volcano 7 which actually (surprisingly) is a pretty amazing cooler for the $15-$19 price point. looks awesome too. i know it cools an XP1800 O/C'd to XP2000 speeds Very well!
(was default vcore tho, but i still think it's worth it's weight)

an AX-7 goes for around $28.00 w/o fan.. it's 80mm of MASSIVE copper and aluminum and when i say MASSIVE that's not an exaggeration by any means. and it beats any aircooler in existance, and it's a great deal (value) for any rig's cooling solution.

well guys..

apparently, the BIOS went corrupt.

now i don't know why, but it was a refurb board so instead of messin with it, i'm RMA'ing it. while i have the time.

ok, so now on to the Soltek and XP1800+ with 512 samsung 333DDR

and a gainward GF3 Ti 128Mb Goldie!!

using the AX-7 of course.

as far as the GTR.. N2 is da Shuttle buster.
if they can't handle 155 FSB without going to alien phrases in the BIOS, i won't be using shuttle no more.
that was my first, and while it's sad cuz the board was amazingly fast, it well may be my last. this sort of problem is the first i've ever had with any mobo. we can blame it on refurbish, but my pal Wildone has had the same thing happen to his AK31 so i dunno.. fishy.

more to come

The Shuttle's seem to get good reviews---but, their price scares me, to be honest. Oh, and that yellow color doesn't help. Lostcircuits absolutely loves the Soltek "85DRV yadda" or whatever the right name is. They're not cheap, but if they are that good, they are still a reasonable price.

yea, thats the one i have here, SL-DRV5 w/KT333 chipset

it was $98.00 new, so that's just $8.00 more than shuttle.

nice and purple... the GTR was FUGLY! i HATE yellow.

anyways, so far, so good.. gonna let it burn in and hopefully have some benches to post tomorrow.
