Asus A7N266-VM. A mainboard without a review. I'm always asking about "oddball" mainboards. Has anyone used this Asus A7N266-VM? It's a MicroATX mobo that sports an nForce 220D chipset. The 220D could be called a cheaper version of an nForce 415D chipset. Spec-wise, it's about the same.
The board is aimed at tightwad biz user's and less than well-heeled regular folks.
I don't care about OCing. The mobo has a built-in LAN and better than AC-97 sound. I've had good luck with an SiS 730S Asus "Biz-board," the A7S-VM. It has built-in sound, Vid and LAN. Which all work well, btw.
I have an adversion to Via chipsets, from a Super Seven board I had years ago. I read that the Via KT266A is a different story, and it's not problematic. But once bitten..
I can't find any reviews of this mobo. If you can point me toward one, I'd be much obleeged. Thanks!
*Edit. The Asus A7N266-VM also features a built-in GF2--but Asus is cagey about what comes after the "GF2." I think "MX" is right, but it seems that no one wants you to know. The beauty of the nForce chipsets is that they are neck and neck with the Via K266A. However, they go one better. One and only one driver is needed for Sound, LAN and Vid. This, I like!
