Possibly the final palomino stepping? the steppings ARE alphabetic......... AR is after AG of agoga and agoia which were pretty good overclockers i believe, just crank it up and see how it goes!!!

What's the best stepping for high OC'z and what chips come with it most commonly?

it normaly doesn't matter whether it be 1600, 1700, 1800, and so on. what i generally tend to look for is the batch no. or codes.

you can browse overclockers.com's data base and you'll see that most people that yeild the highest oc have identical codes.

What about the chips selling at TCWO.com? I am looking at the AMD XP1800+ (OEM). Does that site ship with good steppings?

Theres no way of knowhing what stepping that XP-1800 wil be.
Most chips on sale are the later steppings so they will overclock well, there may still be some older stock lying about.

Some retailers will select a specific stepping for you, some may have no idea what your talking about. It wont hurt to ask.

I've heard the newer AGOIA stepping 1700+ clock real sweet, read on a finnish hardware forum a result of 1875 @ 1.85 volts and air cooling, CPU temp over 60 degrees celcius.

See if you can get the AROIA Y! AGOIA Y is a great overclocker too! TCWO is a great company, but I get taxed because I live in Florida. They usually have the newer steppings.
