Best DDR333 board on the market for the price?

Well, sending back my Gigabyte board.. I don't like it! If you could recommend a board that is easily setup, has some nice oc'in features and decently priced.. what would you tell me to get?

Right now.. I think I'll go back with my ol brand.. good ole Epox..

Are they coming out with an 8k3a2 later on this month? I know it's supposed to be called something different but can't recall the name. Is AMD still shipping out the free usb 2.0 pci cards or do they come standard now with the motherboards currently being ordered?

Would the 8k3a+ be the board to get.. now that they've had several months to work out the quirks in the earlier models? Have they had problems with the ti4400 cards?

I trust epox and abit the most- neither have had problems with any GF4 videocards- the only thing that i have had an issue with is pc2700 ram- BUT thats because i forgot that my pc2100 had the turbo setting on in the bios :-D

Grr.. I wish I remembered which model MSI I had.. it has a raid version to it.. but that's about all I recall (had acquired it in a trade when my 8k7a+ crapped out). I could oc quite a bit through the bios and really had no troubles with it.. any opinion on the latest MSI 333 board?

Bleargh.. I had waited til my Gigabyte board came in to try out my freshly rma'd pny ti4400.. that graphics card is messed up too.. constant lockups.. hope those *******wits at PNY get their crap straight. Plus their packaging sucks.. they sent the card in one small box w/ less than a cup of peanuts.. the metal part that gets screwed in to the case was bent even /rude /rude /rude. Someone please tell me why I ship stuff to retailers the best possible way which usually costs me around $10 when they can't do even close to that for me

I think I'm going to be getting an 8K3A+ as soon as Newegg.com refunds me the money.. I'd assume, that by now they have cleared all of their older revisioned boards out?

Has anyone purchased an 8K3A+ lately? and if so from where and what rev did you get? Unfortunately Newegg doesn't go out to the warehouse and check hehe.. so hoping I snag one of the latest models.

I wonder how much the USB2.0 card will be since they aren't sending those out with the boards anymore.. (bleargh $25 including shipping.)

The sales fellow from Epox told me they are coming out with a newer board w/ build in usb2.0 support and should be released in mid July.. It will be based on newer southbridge chip (VT8235).. I don't know what I want to do... buy the 8k3a+ or wait for this board to come out bleargh..

Yep, the 8K5 series, but I was told it will be available in August. 8K5A3+ has HPT 374, 8K5A2+ has HPT 372 and 8K5A5+ will be the next one with Firewire Serial ATA etc. Choose the one that fits you best and wait .... or not.

I just bought two 8k3a's from z-buy.com. They're very good, and they ship Fedex

It was like $80 for an 8k3a from them and I got it 2 days after ordering from NJ.

Question

We normally build with Epox.
Some customers request specific mobo's..I haven't found any that will OC as well as the Epox.
Some of the mobo's seem to be a little more stable.
They are slower also.
At present I am testing an Abit KX7333, this is a very stable mobo. The only problem I have is it will not shutdown in windows 2k. It always did when I had the Epox 8K3A installed in this same case. Have flashed to the latest bios and still same.
The Abit seems fast enough, At this time I have not put it through all the paces like I did the Epox. I will soon enough.

UPDATE : The 8K5 mobo series from EPoX will be launched soon, much sooner than August. In August we'll se the KT400, 8K9 series.
Speaking of the 8K5, I will sure love to see how it performs with the new VT8235 and hopefully improved FSB overclocking and performance. Let's just hope the BIOSes are fine this time, with CPU Command Decode and all.
