Cool AMD proves superiority

Not a hardware question as such, but something I came across on AMDZone (it might have been AMDmb...don't remember!) that I thought my fellow techheads might enjoy seeing.

Point your browsers to that section of the interweb shown at http://www.heise.de/ct/schachduell/ and look at the chess match thats being played between an Intel box running 2 Xeon 2.4GHz CPUs, and an AMD dual 2GHz Athlon. Its all in German, but AMD are winning. You can translate most of the site text through babelfish.altavista.com, but in the Java window you can't so:

Gewonnen = wins
Veloran = losses
Remis = stalemates
Punkte = points (1 point for a win, half a point for a draw)

Apparently, these chess benchmarks tend to be won by the CPU with the best branch prediction unit. Just goes to show huh?

LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

AMD FOR PREZ!!!

**latest update**

AMD   32.0 = 47.8%

*ntel   35.0 = 52.2%

Its a topsy turvy world ya know. I still like AMD much better anyway.

***AMD's back on top again***

AMD  36.0 = 52.9%

*ntel  32.0 = 47.1%

No more updates...we all know AMD is better anyway

oddly enough, the thing seems to have started again, as intel is now winning 7-5 or so. When i checked this morning before writing this post, amd was 25-21 up. must reset after x number of games.

AMD still roolz

Ok people. More info on this one. Apparently, they run these games in 55 match sections. 'Shredder' and 'Fritz' are two different chess programs, and it appears that these people are running every possible permutation of AMD, Intel, Fritz and Shredder time and time again to see which system consistently wins.

Good news: By the look of things, AMD is winning on all fronts. Huzzah!
