XP 2000+ at 56c?

I wonder if anyone could help me on this?
I've just bought an Epox 8K3A motherboard and an Athlon XP 2000 with a TaiSol CGK760092 CPU Cooler.
Now, I've managed to get the FSB at 138(276)mhz, (I think, though it still shows up as 133(266)mhz in SiSoft Sandra)
and my real CPU clock speed is showing up as 1.73ghz and Athlon XP 2100+.
The only thing that concerns me at the moment is that the temperature seems quite high IMO. Its constantly skipping around the 55-57c mark.
All the voltage settings are on default (apart from the Dimm, I added an extra 0.2v to that.)
The cooler also seems to be sitting flush too.
Is this right? Any thoughts people?
Thanks in advance.
Gaz

The EPoX 8K3A reads the CPU temp from the internal thermal diode on the AXP. This obviously give more accurate temps of the core, but it will also give higher temp readings than an external thermistor. I think EPoX Tech said something like "it's hotter in the center of the sun than the surface." Your readings of 55-57 are right in line with what most people are getting so don't worry about it.

Ahh right, Thanks!
But just to carry on from that, would it be best to stay below 60c, or could I work within a temp range of say...65-70c? (Or am I just being dangerously greedy here?!)

With full load, aircooling typically shows a 30C difference between the case temp and the CPU temp. The watercoolers report something like 20C-25C difference. I think low sixties should be ok, but once you start getting to the high sixties, I think I would start getting a little nervous. AMD says the AXP can run at 90C, but I don't know if I want to be the guy to test that out.

One other thing. Next time if you have a question about an EPoX board, you should post in the EPoX section. All the EPoX veterans hang out there. You'll get the best help and answers to your questions from those guys, especially Holst.

No need to be sorry. Just a suggestion since the guys over there know more about the EPoX stuff than me, not to mention a LOT more people hang out there so you'll get faster responses.
